Iconic Sweaters and the Legends Who Wore Them

In the late 19th century, the rollneck sweater became the cold-weather uniform for fishermen, sailors, and laborers working the docks. They needed warmth and neck protection on the job, but wearing a scarf proved dangerous amongst fast-moving rigging and heavy machinery. So, the rollneck was born—providing just enough coverage to shield from the elements without getting in the way. Our team at Flint and Tinder adapted the original rollneck design for everyday wear with the Headlands Rollneck Sweater. The recycled cotton-blend yarn is knit into a timeless waffle texture for warmth, breathability, and softness we rely on when unpredictable fall weather hits.

Corduroy has deep roots—with a history stretching back to thick cotton cloth woven in Egypt in 200 B.C. But there’s a chapter of its history in the mid-20th century that most people forget, when pioneering rock climbers and surfers adopted corduroy as an essential part of their kits for its hardwearing comfort. Those are the cords we focused on when designing our bestselling Corduroy Pant. Cut like our favorite jeans from butter-soft, stretch-cotton corduroy, they’re fully restocked for fall—and ready to be worn hard season after season.

At the starting line of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc—the world’s most prestigious trail racing event—runners stood ready to put the new HOKA Tecton X 4 to the ultimate test. 108 miles of rough, technical terrain and 33,000 feet of elevation gain later, it proved purpose-built for a grueling ultramarathon. Offering a fine-tuned balance of energy return and controlled forward propulsion, the midsole features a curved geometry with parallel carbon plates sandwiched between the brand’s lightest, most resilient foam. The Kevlar-infused upper, paired with a protective, gaiter-like collar and a dynamic forefoot vamp that stretches as your feet swell, delivers an ultra-durable yet breathable trail sneaker with the comfort to go the distance.
