“If you saw a heat wave, would you wave back?” deadpan stand-up comedian Steven Wright once asked. After the past few days, we’re not feeling too friendly. The weather’s been insane. Record highs in New York City. Equally as hot in Chicago. 101 degrees here in Austin. And somehow even hotter over in Arizona. We were all anxious for summer to arrive, but now it’s here, and it feels like one big, hot exhale hanging over the entire country. So we sat down with our new in-house stylist to figure out how to look good no matter how hot it gets. This Discovery Edit is their curation of timeless styles built to handle a heat wave.

Natural is a logical choice for warmer weather—the right off-white for days in the sun and an easy match for basically any color. From day one, Taylor Stitch bet it could make better-fitting, harder-wearing buttondowns. The Jack Seersucker Shirt takes their longstanding Oxford and updates it in the ideal summer fabric. Seersucker’s puckered texture helps let air in by lifting the shirt off your body, meaning it won’t cling when you start sweating. Right now, layers don’t make much sense, so the polished fabric is pulling double duty by adding a little interest to an otherwise simple shirt.
