Every so often, I find myself taking stock of the things we do in the name of prevention—the tinctures and tools, the heat and the needles—and how easily that intention can tip into obsession. We’re told to start young, stay ahead, be vigilant. But what happens when “maintenance” becomes its own form of damage?
In today’s newsletter, we’re telling one such story: of a woman who started energy-based facials in her 20s and and ended up "cooking" the fat layer beneath her skin—leaving it deflated and aging prematurely. What surprised us most about her story is that it’s not an anomaly—it’s one we’re hearing more and more.
We’re not anti-technology. But we are pro-discernment. And—especially when it comes to your face—there’s something to be said for asking hard questions, getting second opinions, and not mistaking a medspa for a medical degree.
Love,
Gwyneth
