This list of major-championship winners who swing a golf club with their lead wrist in flexion at the top of the swing (bowed, bent toward the palm) is pretty impressive. Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Jordan Spieth, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa—even Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino did it in their heydays.
Should you be doing it in your swing? There is both a technical answer and a fitness-related answer, as bowing the lead wrist not only affects your swing, but it can be tough on your body as well.
To better understand whether you should be bowing your wrist in the golf swing, we spoke to two experts: a top swing coach and one of golf’s best physical therapists. Here’s what they say about the popular trend, including a few exercises that will help prevent wrist injury.
