Greetings,
Golf Digest recently asked me to provide advice on how everyday golfers can keep enjoying this game for decades to come. I guess that’s the type of question only an old-timer like me gets—I’m 68—but that said, I was happy to oblige. The result is the cover story of their December/January Issue.
I talk about how to adjust your golf swing as the body ages, senior strategies for scoring and maximizing power, as well as my favorite single stretch to fight Father Time. I do it every day.
A lot of people know that I’ve won 47 times since turning 50, which is the PGA Tour Champions record. What’s my secret? Well, I take care of my body and practice a lot, but I think it has more to do with my passion for this game. For me, there’s nothing like the feeling of being able to play and compete. This week, I’m on Team Europe going against old rivals in the Skechers World Champions Cup at Feather Sound Country Club in Clearwater, Fla. We’re all friends, sure, but when it comes down to it, I want to win and beat the other guy. I’m sure you feel the same way when you tee it up.
If you take my advice in this article, I think you’ll be doing a lot more of that in all the years to come!
Best,
Bernhard
