‘Formatech’ is an innovative new collection of surfaces where refined porcelain stoneware becomes an ode to more industrial materials, specifically, concrete, metal and plaster, and the process of their making.
The collaboration between Italian porcelain stoneware and ceramic specialist Florim and global architecture and design firm Gensler interprets each of the three materials at a specific stage of their lifecycle, resulting in porcelain stoneware in three finishes. Tactile, textured ‘Cast’ nods to concrete with its added aggregate; ‘Forge’ evokes metals marked by the passage of time and embraces the tones of oxidisation; and ‘Cure’ represents the minimalism of plaster in its curing phase.
Providing a versatile palette for architects and designers, and celebrating the patina of the materials frequently at the heart of their respective crafts, the
‘Formatech’ collection is created using advanced decorative techniques – coloured body tiles, pad-printed textures, graphic designs, and both chromatic and three-dimensional digital applications. Meanwhile, various tile formats and thicknesses make the collection suitable for multiple settings.
As for sustainability, Florim and Gensler’s shared values regarding environmental responsibility mean ‘Formatech’ is made using up to 55 per cent recycled material, at facilities powered by up to 100 per cent renewable electricity.
Intended to help create life-enhancing environments, this meditation on material is ready to redefine your space.
