Hi there,
Daily Harvest was founded on the belief that organic fruits and vegetables are foundationally healthy for people and the planet. With your help, we’ve been able to help Americans consume over 50 million lbs of biodiverse and organic ingredients packed in our ready in minutes smoothies, meals and snacks. And that has also afforded us the opportunity to go beyond simply purchasing and offering organic ingredients, but to be a force for change in advancing organic agriculture and uplifting farmers who seek to transition away from an overreliance on chemical pesticides. And we are just getting started.
On this year’s Earth Day, one thing is clear. Frustration with our legacy food system, the systemic nature of our chronic disease epidemic, and increasingly unpredictable extreme weather is leading us to a tipping point. In this day in age, it’s rare to find consensus on the problems. But when it comes to shining a light on the damage being done by our addiction to ultraprocessed foods and the terrifying health risk of our overreliance on chemical pesticides, consensus is starting to break through.
But while there is increasing alignment on the problems, to take meaningful action and course correct quickly, we need to embrace proven solutions. And that should first and foremost be a commitment to adopting more organic farming here in the US. Just last week, The Hill published my op-ed urging the U.S. to invest more in Organic Food. You can read the details here.
So what’s the TL:DR? If we want to build a food system that prioritizes nourishment and resiliency, we need to double down on our national commitment to organic agriculture.
How can you help? Supporting organic agriculture through purchases at your grocery stores, online, or at your local farmers market are all great ways to signal your support. But if we’re going to see a step change in our commitment here in the US, we’ll need to mobilize a more active response from our Government.
Help us build a bipartisan commitment to Organic agriculture by taking on simple action today by urging Congress to support Organic Farmers in the next Farm Bill:
