Hey all, it’s been a while since I’ve posted any new clothes or production pics. I assure you I’ve been busy being creative, but alas not with the Candi Factory.
All these years (28 of them) of participating in One of a Kind and making kick-ass underwear, etc, have been a true joy....
I always wondered how I would know when to walk away, when to leave on my own terms, when to say the job is done while I still love it. And I’ve always loved it. The craziness of the show, the feeling of belonging, making things that make people smile, but mostly you! I seriously love my amazing customers (so many of you that I consider actual friends), my artisan family, my suppliers (some of whom I’ve known for decades and I definitely consider friends).
But I’ve had itchy feet for a while now. The feeling that I’m good at what I do and have nothing left to prove. That I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. That maybe I could be good at something else. Or terrible at something else, but wouldn’t it be fun to try. At last winters One of a Kind I basically knew it would be my last. I recognized that I needed to do a 180 to feel like I was moving forward. I didn’t say it out loud, maybe I was in denial.
I’m ready to share now that I won’t be at this year’s show. My website is still up and I have lots of drawers that are waiting for new drawers to live in. At some point I’ll have a studio sale, likely in the new year. But for now I’m busy filling orders and working on my next chapter. No spoilers, but it’s exciting to exercise a different part of my brain and employ new creative outlets. I’m not done yet!
I will absolutely miss the madness of OOAK. I will 100% go into shock the day I need to buy underwear from some place else (so weird!). But I will mostly miss the funny, sweet, heartwarming interactions with all of you. You’ve kept me laughing all these years.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Candice
