Boards are asking more of their chief legal officers. On Tuesday, Oct. 6, at The Chicago Club, three board leaders will tell you exactly what they expect.

Michelle Collins, president of Cambium LLC; Christine Edwards, principal with RBG Consulting; and Dr. Suzet McKinney, president and CEO of the Chicago Loop Alliance, take on what boards are wrestling with right now: committees moving beyond compensation into the broader human capital agenda, rising expectations for board effectiveness, crisis readiness and the state of the economy.

Sue Bettman, partner at Brunswick Group, moderates. Expect a direct conversation about where the top legal officer can push, where influence becomes overstepping, and how boards can make far better use of the legal adviser they already have.

Christine Edwards, Principal, RBG Consulting

Christine became the first female general counsel on Wall Street, then spent decades in the C-suite at Bank One and Morgan Stanley before advising boards on governance and leadership change.

Dr. Suzet McKinney, President and CEO, Chicago Loop Alliance

A public health leader turned real estate executive, Dr. McKinney now steers downtown Chicago while serving on the boards of Wintrust Financial, Kemper and the University of Illinois System.

Moderator: Sue Bettman, Partner, Brunswick Group

After serving as general counsel at RR Donnelley, Huron and True North, Sue now guides companies through shareholder activism, litigation and the crises that reach the boardroom.
