U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth

An Iraq War veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Senator Duckworth was among the first women in the Army to fly combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom. She served as Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and spent 23 years in the Reserve Forces, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Elected to the Senate in 2016, she previously represented Illinois’s Eighth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.
