I'd like to personally invite you to join me on Nov. 10 for Power Under Pressure: Preparing Northern Illinois' Grid for Severe Weather, an important conversation we're hosting with ComEd.
This year's severe weather has been a stark reminder of how much our communities and businesses depend on a reliable electrical grid. In 2026 alone, 20 major storms and 57 confirmed tornadoes have affected Northern Illinois, resulting in 2.4 million customer interruptions.
I'll sit down with ComEd President and CEO Gil C. Quiniones to discuss what we've learned from these storms, the implications for Chicago's economy and the investments needed to strengthen our region's infrastructure.
We'll also hear from ABC7 Chicago meteorologist Cheryl Scott, who will moderate a panel featuring Dr. Tom Wall of Argonne National Laboratory. The discussion will include new research examining the weather risks facing our electrical grid through mid-century.
I hope you'll join us for this timely discussion. Registration is free.
