The Cow Share is Back 🐄

Hi there,

Before I started ButcherBox, I was buying my meat from local farmers through a cow share because I didn’t trust what I was finding in the grocery store when it came to feeding my family. In a sense, the cow share is really where the idea for ButcherBox took off.

So, I’m bringing the concept back to life!

This week, we’re launching Find a Rancher™ by ButcherBox, a new cow share program that lets people buy a whole or half cow directly from independent, American ranchers committed to raising cattle on pasture and without antibiotics or added hormones.

If you’ve read the news, there is real pressure on independent and family ranchers to sell into conventional feedlot systems when there isn’t local demand. Feedlots are something we’ve spent nearly a decade advocating against with our sourcing philosophy.

This will be our new way of buying a share of a cow directly from the rancher who raised it, no feedlots in between.

We’re starting small and building, so if a cow share sounds like something you’re interested in, join the waitlist!
