On the Return of the Light

6:02 PM (Today)brightland
Hey none,

I've been thinking a lot about light lately and the way it returns to us this time of year, almost imperceptibly at first and then all at once.

I have now seen the current Impressionism exhibit at LACMA three times, and each visit feels different because the paintings themselves seem to breathe with daylight. The brushstrokes hold softness and movement, gardens dissolving into sky, water catching the last shimmer of afternoon, and I find myself standing there much longer than I expect, thinking about how devoted those artists were to capturing fleeting light. There is something so luxurious about having more light at the end of the day, as though time itself has opened up and offered us space for leisure, for beauty, for gathering. This piece by Monet is my absolute favorite.

For me, springing forward is less about the clock and more about that feeling of expansion, about cooking in a kitchen washed in golden light, about inviting friends over on a weeknight simply because it feels possible again, about choosing ingredients that taste alive and letting them shine without complication.

That spirit is exactly what inspired our newest release. On March 8, we are sharing a flavor duo that feels like the season bottled. Our Basil Olive Oil is green and fragrant and lush, reminiscent of pesto at its peak when the leaves are tender and generous, and our Lemon Olive Oil carries that bright, sunlit citrus note that transforms a simple salad or bowl of pasta into something that tastes unmistakably like spring. I reach for them when I want to make a three ingredient dish that feels thoughtful and abundant at the same time, when I want the olive oil to do the storytelling.

As the days grow longer and the evenings invite us to slow down, I would love to know what art feels like spring to you. I am always looking for new ways to see the season, and it means so much to see it reflected back through this community.

With warmth,
Aishwarya
