Hi ,
This is my favorite time of year—the days are getting longer and brighter, and as an Aries, this is my favorite season. Lately, I’ve had this Smashing Pumpkins song on repeat. I still make all of our playlists because music is always on my mind. Ilove thinking about what color sounds like—how music expresses the parts of color and feeling that words don’t quite capture.
I just got back from Kansas City (my hometown, the Paris of the Plains, according to Monocle), where Schumacher opened their first-ever studio. My dad came, we both got teary-eyed looking at Backdrop wallpaper installed, and he reminded me that we’ve officially been in the wallpaper game for three years now. He followed that sentiment with "remember the summer you ruined my walls testing all those colors.”
On Design I’ve been seeing some incredible PAINTED SKY installs lately. When my friend Xavier painted the original artwork for our collection, he told me it reminded him of his childhood bedroom in Vermont, where his mother had painted clouds on the ceiling. He wanted to recreate that same feeling here.
We have four new wallpaper collections launching this year, and next month, we’re introducing something completely new for us—our first textured wallpaper collection. The preview below shows a bit of this magic, think of it as parquetry for your walls. It’s going to be very good.
On Paint: We just launched a new color last week. A warm, rich color, like draped velvet for your walls. Two of my most supremely tasteful friends in NY and Paris just painted their apartments in this warm white. Also, this color, one of my current favorites, just made an appearance in Architectural Digest, in a stunning home designed by Punch World. It’s bright, light, and neutral but with a little extra something. It’s also the color of my bedroom.
My friend Lily, who created a color cave in her bedroom, just launched her second print edition of Love and Other Rugs—a monthly dispatch on dating and design.
📍 Heading to Salone del Mobile for the first time—will you be there? Hit me up in DMs, please! Thanks for reading, Natalie
